Park Hill Curriculum

At Park Hill, our curriculum is designed to adhere to the national curriculum while being rooted in our core values of: community, respect, equality, compassion, aspiration and resilience.

We celebrate our unique community heritage and culture integrating some of our local history, geography and traditions into our lessons. These are often reinforced through linked reading texts and writing tasks which explore the cultural, social and human impact of historical events and how places affect our lives. British values and UNICEF rights are also woven through humanities subjects. It is our aim to instil a sense of pride, identity and belonging in our children, helping them to appreciate and  one day , contribute positively to their community. We engage our pupils in learning about civic responsibility and some of the local individuals who have strived to achieve great things in a variety of fields; to point to their beginnings and emphasise that they came from the same place our children do and if they can do it, so can our children.

We wish to inspire our children to set high goals and strive for excellence. By providing a broad and balanced curriculum that includes exposure to various careers and opportunities, we want to help our children envision a bright future and understand the steps needed to achieve their objectives and dreams.

Respect is at the heart of our school ethos. We seek to promote an inclusive environment where differences are celebrated and every individual is treated with dignity. Our curriculum includes lessons on diversity, equality and the importance of respecting others’ views and backgrounds. By integrating these values into our curriculum, we strive to ensure that our pupils not only meet academic standards but also grow into well-rounded, compassionate and responsible citizens ready to contribute positively to society.

We aim to develop resilience by encouraging a growth mindset. We teach our children to embrace challenges, learn from mistakes and persist in the face of difficulties, equipping them with the skills to navigate the ups and downs of learning and life.
