RE
What is RE?
RE is the study of world religions, cultures as well as Non-Religious Worldviews.
Why do we learn about RE?
RE helps us to gain an understanding of the range of beliefs and values across the world. It also improves our knowledge and understanding of the world while building a cohesive community.
At Park Hill Primary School, we follow the Birmingham Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education.
As well as learning from and about religions in discreet RE lessons, we also develop this in assemblies. In addition, children in years 2 to 6 also have the opportunity to visit places of worship.
Schools have to teach RE but parents can withdraw their children for all or part of the lessons.
School Year | Place of Worship | Term visit normally happens |
Year 2 | St Anne's Church, Moseley | Autumn 2 |
Year 3 | Solihull Synagogue, Solihull | Summer 1 |
Year 4 | Shree Geeta Bhawan Hindu Temple, Handsworth | Summer 2 |
Year 5 | Birmingham central Mosque, Highgate | Summer 2 |
Year 6 | Birmingham Buddhist Centre, Moseley | Summer 2 |
